After three albums and a sold-out Olympia with The Pirouettes, Vickie Cherie makes a compelling transition toward an introspective universe, shaped by spellbinding synthetic layers, stacked vocals, and compositions at the crossroads of ambient, trance, and lyrical pop. Between 2022 and 2023, her EPs Trust the Process and Oh Honey laid the foundations for this distinctive writing style, where songcraft and electronic music intertwine.
Released in May 2025 on Pan European Recording, her debut album Cherie on Top refines this dizzying trajectory. Across twelve tracks (including two instrumentals and two songs in English), the album dissects a contemporary sense of melancholy: emotional pulses and a feeling of worldly vertigo sit alongside moments of light: friendship, the call of travel, and the poetic presence of the Alps. A soprano voice multiplied into choirs, atmospheric pads, and EDM-driven accelerations guide the record as it moves from ambient to trance, infused with hyperpop and club influences and a fondness for lyrical songwriting. Film excerpts and interview samples evoke Jean Seberg and Glenn Close, while Dodi El Sherbini and Oklou contribute discreetly to the project.
On stage, her background in decorative arts informs an ambitious audiovisual live show conceived like a film: video projections and performance mirror one another, deepening immersion. In autumn 2025, Vickie Cherie will support Oklou on tour and is preparing a reissue of Cherie on Top, expanded with reworks and remixes mysteriously entrusted to a circle of creative collaborators.
