Yanamaste, real name Irakli Danelia is a techno DJ and producer born and raised in Batumi, Georgia, known for his twisted melodies of drenched, oxidized and polyphonic chimes.
He was exposed to rhythms and melodies at a young age. He started by playing the piano, drums, guitar and other instruments. During his childhood, he was exposed to music styles, such as classical music, hip-hop, pop, drum & bass, and dubstep a lot. At the age of 14/15, he discovered techno music and started selecting music. At the age of 16, he started to get more serious with music production. When he was 18, he was playing music, with great results. A year later, at the age of 19/20, he was already playing at big gigs in Tbilisi and in the whole of Georgia, playing at venues such as Cafe-Gallery, KHIDI, Gate, Reflector, being on line-ups with artists such as 999999999, Pan-Pot, Cera Khin, Edit Select, Inhalt der Nacht, KlangKuenstler, Partiboi69, Oscar Mulero to name a few.
In 2016 he studied at the Faculty of Fashion Design at the Kyiv National University of Technology and Design in Ukraine. He eventually dropped out due to being unhappy with the studies & training program and went on to focus on music. He has the plan to continue his studies in the future, potentially at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp.
Yanamaste is known for his productions of music on modular synthesizers. “It’s more unique & you have more area with modular. You can touch the instrument and feel every wave. I create everything from scratch, and every sound is mine, and it’s unique because it never sounds the same, and no one can repeat it.”. He learned everything without resources; in Georgia, there were no music shops to test it and no resources to study it. He eventually built his system in Berlin, checking a lot of modules and spending countless hours in music stores, such as Shneidersladen.
